Whilst walking around my local town, you can't fail to escape the shemagh/keffiyah/Palestinian scarves around. And I'm sure it's the same all around the country. I was going to get one, but it's now overdone, and no longer a unique statement. It's not style if everyone is wearing the same thing.

The scarf in the middle is from Urban Outfitters, and is available in a few different colours. Actually, I read somewhere that Urban Outfitters dropped the keffiyah due to complaints. The shemagh scarves are worn by Muslim men and are traditionally black and white, or red and white. Also, apparently they were being marketed as "peace" scarves whereas people believe that the keffiyah is a symbol of violence. [source] Well, it doesn't seem the case in the UK, because they're still available to buy on the website.

However, whilst reading Nitro:Licious I came across this Balenciaga scarf (top left) and loved the style of it. I thought the coins on the trimmings were a great touch. Also, whilst in Topshop, I fell in love with the star scarf (top right). I think they're great alternatives to the shemagh.

Definition of a geek? A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept. Okay, so we normally associate geeks to be computer geniuses or games wizards. And I know, it's wrong to stereotype. But just at the moment, geek seems to be reaching out to the catwalk.

Alright, so I'm not encouraging you to copy exactly the stereotypical view of geek dress sense. On the catwalk, there was an edgy vibe, with a mixture of monochrome, prints, brocade, skinny fit trousers (or in contrast slouchy trousers), and also military shirts.

I was flicking through a magazine the other day, and saw a promotion for Ben Sherman, a label with a bit of a reputation for 'geeks' and not somewhere I would have thought of shopping at. However, I instantly fell in love with the cardigan (top left) and several other pieces caught my eye. I like college inspired pieces and I'm going to try and mix that up with the geek chic trend. I also love the 'Geek' t-shirt, a bit cool I think. So go on, release the inner geek within you!

Yes, it's official: "Green is the New Black". Okay, so I'm a bit late to jump on the bandwagon here, but there has been a lot of hype over the Anya Hindmarch 'I'm Not a Plastic Bag' £5 tote. The 'It' bag without the designer price tag. It's been seen on the arm of a whole range of celebrities, including Keira Knightley, Lily Cole, Lily Allen, Kelly Osbourne, Reese Witherspoon and Erin O'Connor. Almost impossible to get hold of, it sold out within hours of reaching stores in London.

But it looks like we, the majority who unfortunately didn't manage to get hold of the bag, are in luck as Sainsbury's stores all around the country will start selling these bags tomorrow. It makes an eco-friendly fashion statement and is at the perfect price. Only problem? Each store will only have 30 bags. I'll be setting my alarm clock then...they start selling at 8am.

The jewellery is made from real sweets that a specially treated to make them into suitable charms. You can "pick and mix" to create your own sweetie jewellery. I think they would be great to add a bit of fun to an outfit this summer. They would also make the perfect gift and won't break the bank.

High-waisted, low-rise, boyfit, skinnies - denim trends are going in all directions at the moment. However, the brightly coloured skinny jeans are appearing everywhere at the moment and looks like one trend to try this summer. It might be something to do with the neon on the catwalk or the 'nu rave' trend. Try the rock chick look by teaming with a band t-shirt, blazer and converse. However, if you don't like clashing fluorescent colours you could put a more grown-up twist on it with toned down shades.

Celebrities currently rocking this trend are: Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas in a red pair; Rachel Bilson wearing a pastel lilac shade; Ashlee Simpson rocking electric blue and Christina Aguilera in a bright orange pair.

Be bold, (...be strong - yeh it's a hymn we sing at school!) and dare to wear brightly coloured skinnies. I know I'm thinking of the pink pair below...not any in my local Topshop yet though.

There was absolute mayhem at the opening of Primark on Oxford Street earlier this month: long queues of eager shoppers waiting since the crack of dawn, a lot of pushing and shoving, and even doors being broken. And no wonder. This season is all about the mini, and I am in love with the minidresses at Primark. Starting from the left, the first dress is perfect for summer. A bit preppy, I love the simplicity. I can see myself layering it over skinny jeans or if I'm feeling really brave, wearing it like the model. The middle dress is in theme with the sixties and I love the bright colours of the print. The dress on the end fits in with the monochrome theme and is a bold statement. And the best thing? The prices.
